Rules & Consequences

We have only one youth group rule: RESPECT!

Respect means, “giving special attention to something or someone.”

We will respect…

  1. God.

God is at the center of everything that we do in the Beyond Youth.  Nothing is done without first considering if God wants us to do it or not.  I cannot make you believe in God or to do what is right, but as long as you’re in this youth ministry you will respect Him.This ministry was founded by God and it stands to serve God.  If you are going to be involved, then you will respect Him; even if you choose not to believe in Him.

  2. Each other.

We are all God’s creation.  No one is more important than you, and you’re no more important than anyone else.  So, you’re going to be treated with respect, and you’re going to treat others with the same respect that’s given to you.  Matthew 7:12 states, “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.”Keep in mind that to earn respect, you have to give it.  So, if you want to be respected, then respect other people. As an addition to respecting each other, will be respect…

  3. The leadership.

This is an extension to #2.  Who are the leadership?  They are any person in leadership over any Life-Givers’ ministry, including the Pastoral Team (Pastors Jason & Audrey, Associate Pastors Doug & Candace, and Youth Pastors Dewaine & Bridgett), Children’s Ministries, Puppets Praisin’ Jesus, Crossover Drama Team, Front-Liners, etc.  We’re not going to do anything or ask you to do anything that will purposely harm you.

  4. The facility.

This includes anything that belongs to LGM or that LGM uses, including the office, Berkeley Middle School, etc.  We need to take care of what we have.  If not, then we won’t have this building or anything else to use for our youth group.

  5. Yourself.

If you can’t respect yourself, then no one else will.  As was mentioned in #2, you are no less important than someone else.  God created you and that makes you very important and very special.

Consequences

As long as you can follow our one rule, then these doors are always open for you to participate in the Beyond Youth Ministry.  If not, then hit the road.  Come back when you can.  You will be unable to participate in any area of the Beyond Youth.  YOU WILL NOT BE IN THIS YOUTH GROUP AND BE DISRESPECTFUL!

I want everyone who shows up to be happy that they attended and want to come back, and I will not tolerate anyone who will not show respect.

Enforcement

If you have to be called out of the Beyond Youth Experience on Sundays, then you’re going to sit in the sanctuary with whoever brought you.  If the entire class is punished, then they will sit with Pastor Bridgett & me.

If you misbehave week after week and refuse to offer respect, then you’ll be banned from the youth ministry until you’re able to follow the rule.  This includes the Sunday morning Experience, small groups, events, and trips.

Pastors Dewaine & Bridgett will enforce these rules as they deem necessary.  Any decisions made to prohibit a student from participating in the youth group will be approved by Pastors Jason & Audrey.
