Teens for Jeans was an ultimate success. Over 3 weeks, we collected 150 pairs of jeans and donated them to Aeropostale who was then sending them to help in the Haiti earthquake relief. Awesome! Thank you to everyone who helped, and donated.

Winter Jam 2010 was phenomenal. Although Mr. Robbie and I missed Fireflight and Sidewalk Prophets, the rest of the show was amazing. I extremely enjoyed Third Day (as always), Tenth Avenue North, Newsboys, and Newsong. Not that the other bands weren’t good. Those performances stick out in my mind. Another cool thing is that Mr. Robbie and I got to meet the lead singer and the drummer of Revive.

The best part of the whole night was seeing the students that we took stand up to say that they accepted Jesus as their Savior that night. Truly fantastic, and glory to God. I wanted to cry. If you want the devotional that Tony Nolan mentioned, I found it on his Facebook page or you can download it here.

This Sunday, we’re going to mix it up. Normally we have our small group after the worship portion of the Life-Givers Ministries morning service. Instead, we will be experiencing our first prayer walk. “What for?” you ask. Because I said we are. No really. We are going to be walking around the school, and praying at 6 locations. At each location will be a list of things and people to pray for. And it won’t be just me praying at each location, but everyone.

Now, why are we doing this? This prayer walk gets us to focus on other people and their needs, which is the most important part of having a relationship with another person. It allows us to “bond” with them through prayer while giving these needs to God.

So, please come out on Sunday so we can pray together. This will be a great experience.

After a long weekend of getting almost no sleep, here are a few of my thoughts over the past weekend. Enjoy!

I am very tired, but this weekend was super fun. Two Christmas parties, LGM worship experience, and the Beyond Youth small group has me wiped out. I wouldn’t change any part of it.

Bridgett is mean when she cleans house. I call it her Cleaning Demon. But I love her for it. When company is coming over, she wants HER house presentable and clean. I love her so much.

Speaking of Christmas parties, the first was on Friday for the Crossover Drama Team. I never knew that a gift exchange could be so brutal. I don’t want to call names (ahem, Stephanie Nobles), but it was like I was watching an episode of Survivor. Alliances, plots, and more.

Bridgett and I had a student stay with us this weekend. It was cool. She got to go to both Christmas parties, and got a glimpse into our lives. It’s cool that God uses us to be examples for our students.

Isn’t it amazing how much grace Joseph showed Mary when he found out that she was pregnant when neither of them had slept with one another? He could have had her tried and stoned, but didn’t. He looked to divorce her privately. Wow! Not only did Jesus have a father in Heaven who was graceful, but a step-father on Earth who was a great example of grace, as well.

The second party was on Saturday for the Beyond Youth Ministry. It was slow to start, but we quickly got it back on track.

By-the-way, please pray for Bridgett, Stephanie N., and Kinsey. They were trying to be discreet, but it was painfully obvious that they were cheating at Spoons all night. And Bridgett was the ring leader. I’m so ashamed.

Rusty told me, “It doesn’t look like it, but there are actually 87 people here.” My reply, “It’s like when you’re a kid and your mom fixes you a plate of food, but you only eat half. You scatter the food around until it looks like less than it really is.” Sure, it was funny. He laughed his head off.

As for attendance, there were 6 in the Beyond Youth small group. Not bad considering many parents were working.

There are a lot of things that we still need work on as a ministry at LGM, but no church or ministry is perfect. We will keep working and we will keep improving and we will keep worshipping God through our obedience and stewardship.

I hoped you enjoyed reading my thoughts.

And now for another list of my thoughts on the past weekend.

Did everyone have fun at the Christmas Dinner on Thursday? I had an amazing time. The best was being able to walk around and talk to everyone. I know I missed many people, but I did my best to juggle helping Bridgett set everything up while also mingling.

The Christmas Talent Show was off-the-hook (yes, I’m from the 90’s), and so fun to be in. I especially enjoyed pranking Jason and Doug, and getting Dylan involved was a special treat.

Let me give a big thank you to Jimmy and Pat Ray from Restoration Ministries. They served LGM by being our Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus at the dinner. They were truly a blessing.

I was at the Robbies’ house Friday evening for pizza and to watch the St. Stephen Christmas Parade. It was cool watching LGM being represented by our Puppets Praisin’ Jesus team, but the really special moment for me was listening to Lexi practice songs with Doug to perform with the Praise Team for Youth Sunday. Truly a moment that a pastor cherishes.

Speaking of Youth Sunday, how awesome was it to see our teenagers serve along side us throughout the morning service? I was at a loss for words, but I had to find some because I was scheduled to deliver the message yesterday. I’m still in awe of what God has done in the Beyond Youth Ministry and in the lives of it’s students, and I’m so proud of my students.

To let you know, the students who helped us yesterday are: Tad, Gary, Kinsey, Macie, Alexis, Melissa, and Dylan.

Thank you, Mrs. Jenean, for bringing up the terrible facts about hunger. And when you brought up the Backpack Buddies program, I almost cried, because Bridgett and I helped in this program at our last church, and the best part about it is that it is free of charge. The only cost is 10 minutes per month.

Oh, and the Moncks Corner Christmas Parade was an awesome feat. How the town organizes this thing every year is beyond me, but they did a great job. And once again, LGM was represented in a great way. Ms. Peggy gave me Max (the furry green puppet) to ride with in my dad’s truck, and he was a hit. People saw him bouncing with the music and waving to everyone, and they thought he was so cute just chillin’ and ridin’ along. It was a blast.

Thank you to everyone for the kind remarks about my first message at LGM. My only prayer is that in some way, God touched your hearts and it will help you change to be more like Jesus.

Finally, I’m so very excited about where God is taking Life-Givers Ministries and the Beyond Youth Ministry, and am honored to be a part of it all. Thank you to everyone for welcoming Bridgett and me into your family with open arms.

A couple things to announce and a reminder.

Youth Sunday was a huge success. For the seven of you who helped the various LGM ministries, thank you so very much. Sure, it might not have seemed like much, but everyone was supremely pleased to have you all helping Life-Givers. So, thank you to the following students who helped:

Melissa, ran the presentation computer;

Dylan, was a greeter to everyone who entered;

Alexis, sang in the Praise Team;

Gary, welcomed everyone to the service;

Kinsey, gave the announcements and was a helper in a children’s class;

Tad, read Scripture during the worship service; and

Macie, who also helped in the Children’s Ministries.

Once again, thank you so much. I’m proud of you all.

T-Shirts

The youth t-shirts have been ordered as of last week. Fifty-two shirts were ordered, and most of the money has been collected. Expect them to arrive in the next three to four weeks.

Christmas Party

The youth Christmas Party is THIS Saturday (Dec 12th) at 5pm at the Robbies’ House in St. Stephen. Give Bridgett or me a call if you need directions.Here’s a quick reminder about the Life-Givers Christmas Dinner. It is this Thursday at 7pm at Somerset, which is in Pinopolis. There will be BBQ, a talent show, and Santa Claus. Please make plans to come out and enjoy yourself.

We are planning to serve a spaghetti dinner (no charge). All that is necessary for each student to bring a gift of no more than $10 to participate in the Chinese Gift Exchange (a.k.a. White Elephant Gift Exchange). Click here for more info on how this type of gift exchange works.

Note: This party is for Beyond Youth students ONLY. I wanted to make this clear, because this will be a fun night for us to hang out and do whatever. Maybe watch a movie or play some games or something.
