Don’t Let Your Circumstances Be Your Dictator

// October 27th, 2009 // Comments Off // From Pastor Dewaine

Here’s something that God has been reminding me of lately:

“Don’t let your circumstances dictate if you have a good or bad day.  Having a day being able to give God glory is always a good day.”

Remember, circumstances come and go.  One minute they’re good, and another they’re bad.  Instead, look past your problems and to God.  He’s always there and always good.

The Sin Chair Drama

// October 25th, 2009 // 2 Comments » // Crossover Drama

Sorry it took so long, but here’s the video of the first drama of the Crossover Drama Team. Yes, the Crossover Drama Team. We renamed it to give the meaning of helping present Jesus to people through the art of acting.

This first drama is entitled The Sin Chair. The meaning is that whenever we succumb to sin, then we become trapped and attached to it, and only through the truth of Jesus from the Bible can we be freed. As the Bible states, “we are free indeed.”

Update: Sorry about the audio problems. YouTube had a problem with the fact that we had used some songs in the drama, so they muted the sound. The video is now on Vimeo.

Yard Sale Results

// October 17th, 2009 // 2 Comments » // Fundraisers

Thank you to everyone who donated, helped, prayed, or supported in any way for our yard sale. We needed it. We started at 6am and ran through 1:30pm, and boy it was busy. In the end, God showed up and showed off in a big way. We raised $382.50. That is well beyond what I expected. I guess Ephesians 3:20 showed itself true.

I want to say a big personal thank you to the following people:

  • Bridgett,
  • Robbi Odom,
  • Peggy Hiers, and
  • Stephanie and Alexis Nobles and Miss Melissa.

You guys totally rock.  You were available early this morning, and stayed all day.  Without you, this yard sale couldn’t have and wouldn’t have been a raging success.  And let me give a shout-out to Robby Odom for helping us pack everything last night.  That saved us a ton of time this morning.

Halloween Party

// October 14th, 2009 // Comments Off // Events

Our first party as the Beyond Youth Ministry will be a Halloween Party, and I am extremely excited about it. We will be providing hot dogs and chili cheese salsa dip for the meal, as well as, a good time to fellowship together and play some games. We’ll also be riding a hayride through the woods.

Why are we doing this? Sure, it seems a bit random, but we wanted a good place and time to hang out, have some fun, and get to know everyone. We are inviting the church leadership (Pastors Jason & Audrey and Associate Pastors Doug & Candace) and all of the teenagers and their families. Note the word families. Even the younger children are welcome.

Okay, so here’s the details:

Date: Saturday, October 30th
Time: 7-9pm
Where: Marion & Cindy Cooper’s house (map below)

If you need directions, then either use the map or call me at 259-0656.
